Now that you know The Lord's command to be strong and in the power of His might, we must now know why. But first think about this one fact. God spoke those words. To be strong and in the power of His might. This is more than just a statement. It is a command. Why would God command for us to do something if it were not possible? Think about it. Yes it is a tall order as we see it now. I asked you to meditate on this statement and John 14. I really hope you did. If you did not, go and do it now before you carry on.
Was salvation possible without God? No it was not. We had to believe that He gave of his son. Jesus died for us. His blood was shed on the cross for our forgiveness. We had to believe. It is no different now with this command being strong in the Lord, and in the power of HIS MIGHT. Salvation was possible and so is this command. You must believe it is possible.
Why do we have to believe? Verse 12 tells us why. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood. This battle is not against things we can see. That would be easier. It is against things not seen. It is against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness (of this world) and against spiritual wickedness (in high places) (click on blue underlined words for Greek word and meaning).
If you looked at these words and studied their meanings you will understand why God commanded such an unthinkable thing. We could not obtain salvation on our own nor can we fight life's battles on our own, especially our own strength. Satan knows the rules. He knows what are our weaknesses and our strengths. He will use anything to kill, steal or destroy, but be of good cheer my friends, Jesus came that we might have life and life more abundantly. Do you see what we stand against. Powerful rulers, authorities, spiritual rules and beings. Sin, plots, malice, ideals, philosophies and obscure (dark) things. It is like boxing with the wind. Grab a hold of the wind and wrestle it. Hahahahaha Yep you would look silly to others if they seen you. The fight of life is much the same. That is why we need Jesus and God's wonderful Word.
Next week we will get into how we can begin to fight in the power of His might. I know you are eager to learn. Please email me and let me know how you feel about this study we are doing. Also it would be good to know if one is following it. See you next week. Remember, Jesus Really Does Love You just as you are. He has not changed. |
