The key word here is 'early'. There have been many teachings on this word concerning prayer. The misconception is that we should get up very early in the morning and start our day in prayer. That is fine for those who work five days a week and are on steady days. The real meaning to this word early is to begin prayer as soon as there is a hint of trouble or when we have discerned the Spirit's prompting. Start now, right away that is what early really means. Also there are two other key words in this nugget. They are, 'thirsts' and 'longs'. Notice it is the soul that thirsts and the flesh that longs. Yes I know you may have a hard time with getting into prayer, but you must start early (now). When you start now you begin communicating with your God. If you are diligent, you will thirst and long for Him, because you will want more of Him, as you experience him. But the word is diligence. Take a look at the world. What does it thirst for? Gold and silver is what they long for. They think this is the real power. The more you get the more you want. The world devotes their life to obtaining silver and gold. They thirst and seek for it. No my friends. If you seek Him with all your heart and soul as they do for their silver and gold you will know what real power is. The same reaction you will also get of the spiritual silver & gold. The more you get, the more you want. You will seek and thirst for more of it. Most of our laws and why we do things today is tainted with the earthly silver and gold. Believe me, money is one of the first considerations when laws are made and how we do things. What will make it more profitable is the saying of today. So saints lets taint our lives with the wisdom and knowledge of the Lord and come out of her, especially as we see His day approaching. Take in some tiny morsels of prayer in the beginning. Do not choke on it. Do not force it on yourself in big chunks. Just be diligent and steady. You will soon thirst for more. Understanding will be the result of your pilgrimage into the life of prayer.
